The Lark in the clear Air
Most Irish people know this air as the introductory music to the Sunday morning radio show "Mo Cheol Thú" presented by my uncle, Ciarain MacMathúna, from 1970 to 2005
The air was collected the wife of the Belfast poet Samuel Ferguson (10 March 1810 – 9 August 1886) mary catherine Guiness...she heard the air from an elderly Irish lady set to a song called "The Tailor's Son"
In 1895 Michele Esposito ..itialian compoer and pianist adapted it to the version as we now know it and popularized by his friend Irish american tenor Dennis O’Sullivan .
